Junior High English and Literature Curriculum
The focus of junior high language arts is reading and responding to literature coordinated with written expression.
Students will read and respond daily to what they have read. This class is taught with the high school curriculum in mind. We study the classics such as Shakespeare and Poe, as well as first hand accounts and primary sources such as the Gettysburg Address and Dr. King's I Have a Dream Speech. Each student sets their own goals for reading and is also required to submit a monthly book report. Students will also study vocabulary and usage with a focus on Greek and Latin root words.
